I have a bunch of them saved up but they just take up bank and inventory space so are they actually worth it? what kind of stuff do they even give?

✭✭✭✭✭They give the same stuff as you get out of master-level treasure chests in a zone. Whether they are worth doing, that's a matter of personal opinion. I discard mine by selling them in guild stores for 119g--I sell them at a loss, less than the amount of gold that you'd find in the chest (not to mention the value of the items) because 95% of the time, it's just all decon trash and it's just not worth my play time to hunt them down. But, again, that's a matter of personal opinion. If you enjoy looting chests, then it would probably be worth your play time. I don't.

✭✭✭✭✭Certain zones drop better stuff. You could theoretically open three chests in three different zones and get a purple Necropotence ring, a purple Briarheart dagger, and a Buoyant Armiger chest motif and sell the lot for 100,000 gold. Or find a rare painting worth a million+. It's all about that RNG. The person who opens more chests has a better chance of getting the good drops.
But I open and take everything. I give the junk armors and glyphs to my alts to deconstruct to raise their crafting skills. I have a dedicated treasure hunter toon who gets all my maps and surveys, he's the best at speed, stealth, and sustain, and of course has the Treasure Hunter, Shadow Rider, and Windrunning passives. As well as See The Unseen to grab the Psijic portals along the way.
It can be fun. Also you can give them to your alts and let them get the XP for discovering new locations while finding and opening the chests.

✭You can get some good stuff from them, overland set pieces for example. Most for me are just decon fodder but they are still worth going to get. You might find something useful or that you can sell. If you have the treasure hunter passive you'll get better stuff from them.

✭✭At worst you'll get some useful mats, jewelry mats in particular.

I recently deleted about 100 of them.
They are really only worth doing if they are for a zone that has equipment you'd want to farm. I did the maps for Deshaan and nothing else.

Pretty much this. Some people like them, some people don't. It's not my cup of tea so I sell mine, but I've seen people in guild chat get really happy over them because they like the treasure-hunting aspect.

✭Bangkorai, Murkmire, Deshaan, Glenumbra, Wrothgar, Malabar Tor can be quite profitable to run, but its like with overland chests, require quite a luck. Sets from those zones are BiS or good replacements and can fetch good price (Spriggans, 7th legion, Bright-Throat, Spinners, Briarheart, Mother Sorrow, Plague Doctor). Even if not, you can get purple jewerly - Zircons are profitable too.

The Cyrodil ones tend to drop motifs so its worth doing.Grinding just make you go in circles.

✭✭For me they are worth doing but I don't save them up. I find I am already in many of the places where the treasure chests are so it isn't going out of my way to use them. I also use maps and surveys as something to do while waiting for the Group Finder queue to pop. I end up deconstructing or selling most stuff but both are easy ways to get materials and extra gold.

✭✭Once you're CP160 then they're very worth hunting. Maps are thing I never sell, instead I use them myself. Besides. Free gold!

I was just going to add this!
I made the mistake when I started of running a TON of maps under 160. Got lots of stuff for decon, but realized I should have waited.

Thanks for keeping the overall market value of these down to virtually nothing.

✭✭So far I haven't gotten treasure from them. I've gotten 100 gold, 1 empty soul gem, 3 blue/green gears. Nothing I can't get from killing trash mobs for a few minutes. It is so weird that it is considered treasure.

✭Malachite Shards, can be found in treasure chests or in Undaunted Exploration Supplies.
Jewelry found in chests is good mostly for decon, but some may be worth quite a bit.
Divine / Infused / Impenetrable / Sharpened / Precise Trait items can be worth quite a bit.

Depend I'd say. If you anjoy doing these well despite not beeing the best way to get money they aren't a waiste of time either, especialy if you collect nodes while running to the treasure.
otherwise sell them.
Personaly I just keept the maps that are in a zone that have interesting set drop or if they are for a zone that I need to quest/farm.
